I need a knife sharpener to take to deer camp and because cutting deer-hide seems to always dull a sharp knife, and remembered my dad's smith's wet stone, I went a little crazy sharpening all the knifes in the house, -LCB- and getting a big kiss from the little woman -RSB- and have to say that the tool works much better than I expected, is that it is always a good idea to apply a thin coat of cooking oil to the knife blade before starting to sharpen.it helps to float the steel that the sharpener removes so they do not dull the blade you are trying to sharpen

Fits my hands well given its size and is very comfortable, It came screaming sharp and to my surprise this blade is really slicey, Easy to sharpen and holds a mean edge, the handles have nested steel liners -LRB- unlike a strider -RRB- and the thumb studs are actually comphortable to use -LRB- unlike a strider -RRB- it even comes with a disassembly tool, Great purchase if you need a giant `` box cutter'' for tactically operating operationally on boxes

I had bought a Smith and Wesson M&P knife for work and after a good amount of use my knife had dulled to the point of almost being laughable, I'd seen this product in several sporting goods stores and after reading reviews on Amazon I decided to give it a try, After reading up on the best practices I attempted to sharpen my knife and I was definitely impressed with how the sharpener performed

I have a knife that is a favorite because of all the accessories it has ... It has a corkscrew, screwdriver and an LED flashlight ... The down side is it won't stay sharp ... With this thing handy, I can quickly put a fresh edge on the junky Chinese blade that won't hold an edge ... The second time I use that knife to open a package, it probably would no longer be my favorite knife ...

Coarse slot for really dull edges and ceramic for finishing edges or touchup, I really like the diamond rod for sharping tools that have unusual blades that don't fit well on the V type sharpeners, and small blades can be sharpened with the rod, I have a package blade that is very small and I was able to put a very nice edge on it quickly

I bought this little sharpener because I didn't have a portable sharpener, It handled both knives extremely well and the new poorly sharpened Kukri from the factory was given a nice razor sharp edge after some time, Don't let its small size fool you, It was a big hit at a Scout camping where everyone used it to sharpen their knives

Fantastic product for the price, Very stiff lockup with no lateral play, Belt clip is incredibly stiff which worries me about its possibility of snapping but I never use them anyway, Time will tell on how it holds up but for the price it doesn't worry me much to turn it into a daily beater

I've always been bad at sharpening knives on a wet stone, and the edge sharp properly, cheap knife I received as a gift many years ago, That knife is so sharp I can shave my excessively hairy arm, which I have never been able to do with any knife

It's not as sophisticated as various stone systems, but it works and over the years I've settled on this as a primary sharpener for most of my work and hunting knives ... save only one family heirloom that I treat a bit more gently

fairly smooth action, good lockup.Looks good. But don't cut anything with it.The blade on mine is crap and takes damage cutting nylon/cotton material at work.Customer `` service'' is no help and just said use a stone to sharpen it
